C.J. Lehmann — Blind Benefit

La Grange, Texas. November 2018. This knife is special. Not only because it looks bad ass, but because it's to benefit C.J. Lehmann, a local deputy officer who lost his sight from a shotgun to the face in early November in La Grange.

Naturally in Texas, when our community faces an issue, we work together to bring in as much financial and emotional support that we can. So, the community of Round Top, Texas had a benefit in his honor and I crafted this piece for The Stone Cellar's silent auction. The color palette was influenced by the Fayette County Sheriff's Department and featured some Texas Spalted Pecan for the saya.

This project was for me and for my community. Putting this beautiful Tojiro ITK 240mm Kiritsuke up for auction to benefit a young single father, after a horrible life-changing injury, was just the right thing to do. And a huge thanks to Barry Bone, the current mayor of Round Top, Texas for seeing that in me and winning this heirloom piece.
