Fabio Crispim — Fisherman's Fantasy
Sao Paulo, Brazil. April 2018. If you're in Brazil and ever need your vehicles moved commercially, then Fabio's the connection you should make. Since the late 1990s, Fabio Crispim has ran Hawai, a transportation logistics company in Brazil.
Outside of work, Fabio's an avid fisherman and a knife collector. Recently, he discovered that stabilized wood could be as colorful as the fish that he catches in the sea. So when he reached out to me to create a special custom for his Itsuo Doi Blue #2 300mm Yanagiba that he’ll use to prepare sashimi while on his fishing trips around the world, I knew this one would be spectacular!
Materials in the handle include: a black resin cactus wood hybrid ferrule, yellow spalted birch, an acrylic stack of scraps that I made, and genuine sterling silver spacers, a rainbow Andy Pourcasso maple burl resin hybrid body, with yellow fiberboard and polished nickel silver spacers, and more sparkly toxic goodness on the booty.
Materials in the saya include: hand carved friction fit Padauk with a hand-waxed and polished finish.
